Intern

Meet Our Summer Intern

Hello! My name is Emma Elsbecker. I am 19 years old, and I have lived in Algona my whole entire life. This fall, I am going to be a sophomore at The University of Northern Iowa. I am majoring in psychology and minoring in mental health with aspirations of becoming a counseling psychologist.

There are many hobbies that I enjoy in my free time. For instance, I have been a part-time musician for the past 6 years, and I will be singing at The Party in Park on August 10th! Not only do I sing and play guitar, but I am a makeup artist too. I also enjoy creating acrylic paintings, and have sold a few original pieces over the years. So as you can see, I like to stay busy!

Above all, my favorite hobby is spending time with my dog, Tucker. He is a golden retriever, and I adopted him last year when I was a senior in high school. I have intentions of getting him certified as a therapy dog so that he can volunteer to provide comfort to those in care centers and nursing homes.

So far, this internship has allowed me to express myself creatively, interact with others, and stay involved with the wonderful community that I grew up in. Working at the Algona Public Library has easily been the best part of my summer!
