Friends of the Algona Public Library
Who are the Friends? The Friends of the Algona Public Library are individuals, businesses, and organizations who believe in and support the programs and services of the Library. The Friends is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that raises funds through its membership and activities to provide programs, materials and equipment that fall outside the regular budget allocations of the Library. Friends also volunteer occasionally.
Friends supported programs and initiatives include:
- Summer Reading Program Presentations and Prizes
- Story Stroll
- Puppet Theater
- Outdoor Activity and Learning Area w/Gardens
- Recording Studio
Membership
Membership is a terrific way to support your library and to be involved in your community. Through your membership:
- You promote literacy and a love of reading and learning.
- You contribute to enhancing the selection of free Library materials and services for your community.
- You enable the Library to offer exciting programs and opportunities.
- You strengthen our voice as we advocate for the Library.
Membership in the Friends is open to people of all ages, residents and nonresidents.

The Friends bookshelf sale, located near the coffee bar, offers used books for sale throughout the year. The annual book sale is held during the summer. Materials for the sales come from items withdrawn from the collection and from public donations.
