The Algona Public Library accepts donations of books and other materials on behalf of the Friends of the Algona Public Library. 

We accept donations of the following items: 

  • Hardcover books
  • Paperback books
  • Audiobooks
  • DVD films
  • Music CDs and Vinyl Records
  • Video games

We’re unable to accept the following items:

  • Magazines
  • Textbooks
  • Computer / Technology Books
  • VHS / Audio cassettes
  • Empty CD / DVD cases
  • Damaged materials (mildewed, dusty, damp, marked-up)

Donations may be tax deductible. If you need a receipt for tax purposes, library staff can provide one. You assign a value to your contribution.

Financial Donations

Thank you for your interest in donating to the Algona Public Library. Donations help support the purchase of library materials, programs, and services for the community to enjoy. A tax receipt will be issued for any amount over $20.

We also suggest donating to the Friends of the Algona Public Library, a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that works to support and enhance the work of the library. The Friends assist with funding programming, summer reading, and various special projects. Our Friends help make the fun stuff happen, plus your donation is tax deductible.
